When it comes to cycling pumps, you may have noticed an endless supply of newer, more technical models each year. While we’re all for progress, eventually, all of the updates and new features reach the point of diminishing returns. Lezyne keeps things simple, as it always has, with the Sport Drive ABS-2 Floor Pump, focusing on pumping up tires rather than inflating price tags with an unnecessary assortment of latest-and-greatest technology. Made with a timeless combination of wood and steel and mounted to a composite base, the Sport Drive accommodates both Presta and Schrader valves and comes complete with Lezyne’s proven Air Bleed System 2 (ABS-2). ABS-2 includes a wee little button that allows you to precisely dial in the ideal pressure when inflating your tires. While you’re doing so, a 3. 5in display gauge prevents you from having to guess or squint to read tire pressure. Longevity is a hallmark of Lezyne pumps, and if you buy this pump to use with your first aluminum frame with stock wheels, it will loyally grow with you as you invest in your first set of deep dish carbon hoops or disc-equipped wheels with its Speed Chuck couplers, which are built with a 90-degree angle to allow them to accommodate a full range of wheel designs.

Good road pump, May 16, 2016

I like this pump a lot. It is not as well made as my steel floor pumps by Lezyne (it has a significantly lower price point) and the connection at the valve is not as secure as the other higher end pumps (but some don’t like having to thread the connector onto the valve stem on those pumps). I haven’t used it long enough to get an estimate of durability, but this is my third Lezyne pump and they tend to last longer than other pump brands.

It is funny how something as simple as a reliable tire pump …, May 13, 2016

It is funny how something as simple as a reliable tire pump can make your day. The screw on ABS2 chuck for presta is fast, easy and reliable. Delivery was speedy and arrived when promised. The only improvement I can think of is it would be nice to have something that would clamp the hose to the pump when stored.

Still searching for that perfect pump…so disappointed., June 24, 2016

Since I absolutely despise the trend toward slip-on heads…which never seem to work as everyone claims they do…I am always searching for that elusive, ever-perfect screw-on bike tire pump. I thought I had found it with the Lezyne brand. All the reviews seemed great especially since multiple had made mention of the accuracy of the pressure gauge. Boy was I mistaken.

First, the pump is functional. It is solid. Great wooden handle. Large gauge. Love the chuck! But given the price point and the fact the gauge is totally worthless…I can’t recommend this pump and I would find it hard to believe the rest of the Lezyne lineup would be any different. First, I have an all-terrain bike that is mostly used on the pavement. I like to keep my tires at 50#. To test this pump, I deflated my front tire. My digital gauge that I always use to check the pressure…registered 0#. Screw on the Lezyne, give 1 pump…the gauge registers 60#. Ugh!

After deflating and inflating a few times…I have to take the Lezyne gauge to about 95# in order to reach my 50# target. And if you take the pump from the tire…the one you just inflated to 95# on its’ gauge and reattach it to the wheel; it will not read 95#. It will read something less and you’ll then want to continue pumping. Disappointment abounds and I continue my search. Can it really be this hard?
