Gauge does not work, September 20, 2011

Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
I was looking for a great pump for our bikes. After reading a lot of reviews I selected this pump. I was willing to pay the price for quality. This pump, at least the one I received, is not good at all. The gauge is off by more than 20 psi on the low side. I pumped up my kids tires, he goes 1/2 block and both tires pop.

I thought that was too much of a coincidence so I checked the pump’s pressure reading vs my car gauge. The pump gauge was over 20 psi low.
I looked to see if there was a way to calibrat the gauge but I couldn’t find one.
[…]
It’s not worth sending back but I wished I would have bought a different pump.
I give the pump 1 star for quality and 1 star for comedic value with the tires bowing out.

Wow, I just got a response from the Warranty team at Serfas. This is a classic solution “You can do everything 20 psi less.” In other words… just deal with it.
Down to 1 start.

Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
I was looking around at the different floor pumps available when I came across this one. It seemed pricey, but everyone else was saying it’s the only pump I’d ever need. I ordered it a couple of days ago and I got it today and it looked amazing. I pumped my tires super fast, but the gauge simply does not work. I’m maxing out at like 40 PSI on my bike tires. What’s the deal? I’m not a strict rater, by any means. I like this item, but for this price, I think I should get a pump that has a working gauge. I was reading up on some of the other Serfas pumps, and people were saying the FP-50’s gauge didn’t work well either. I heard good things about the FP-200, though.

I’m just a little bummed out, I have a pair of Serfas lights which are bright as heck, and I love ’em. I just can’t believe I dished out this much for a faulty pump.

UPDATE:

I forgot to mention that I have a road bike that uses Presta air valves. I thought that might be the reason why it’s not reading it. I exchanged my pump with Amazon and I received another pump the next day, but it had the same problem. I’m now returning it. I’m not saying it’s a bad pump. It seemed to work for everyone else, but if you have a bike with Presta valves instead of Schrader, you might want to reconsider.

Kudos to Amazon for the SUPER fast exchange.

THEY DO MAKE’M LIKE THIS ANYMORE!, September 14, 2009

Short and sweet: If your looking for the best (and last) floor pump you’ll ever buy, look no more. This thing is built like a brick…well, you know. Even the hose is reinforced with steel braiding. Operates like a dream and fills tires to rock-hard PSIs in no time. I actually look forward to pumping my tires! Spend the extra money beyond what you’d waste on a plastic Joe Blow(s) pump and buy something of rare quality that will last a lifetime, with a lifetime warranty to boot.
